Multidisciplinary academic exchange
From January 5 to 7, the 2024 Light of Shanghai Conference on Optometry and Vision Science, the China Vision Science Technology and Equipment Exhibition and the 12th Myopia Care · SMILE Forum were held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. Several Shanghai Purui Eye Hospital specialists spoke, and nearly 50 staff members joined the meeting.
Professor Lu Yi, group vice president and chief cataract specialist, presented the use of MiLOOP in hard-nucleus cataract with high myopia and shared clinical experience with the device.
Innovation and development in non-public medical institutions
The conference introduced sessions on the development of non-public medical institutions. Scholars, hospital managers and industry representatives discussed specialty development, clinical capability and innovation.
Shanghai Purui Eye Hospital President Xiao Jianye presented strategies for high-quality private-hospital development, focusing on quality, institutional depth, capability, differentiation and reputation.
Dr. Xiao shares the viscoelastic-free one-step ICL technique
Dr. Xiao Qirui presented clinical experience with a single-incision, viscoelastic-free ICL technique, discussing workflow, reduced procedural steps and postoperative management.
Dr. Yan Yan presented the digital transformation of electronic refractive-development records and their use in myopia monitoring and individualized intervention.
EVO ICL wet-lab instruction
The exhibition included wet-lab training. Xiao Qirui and Li Qing served as instructors for EVO ICL simulation training on surgical planning, procedural steps and operating techniques.
Specialty-alliance recognition and young-expert appointment
Shanghai Purui Eye Hospital was recognized as a member of the Yangtze River Delta Ophthalmic Diagnosis and Treatment Specialty Alliance, supporting regional medical, teaching and research cooperation.
Xiao Qirui was appointed to the Youth Expert Collaboration Group for intraocular lens correction.
Hospital and expert exchange at the exhibition
The hospital’s exhibition booth presented its clinical teams and specialties. Delegations led by Professor Zhou Xingtao and by Yan Dongfang of the Shanghai Association of Social Medical Institutions visited for exchange.
The meeting offered a platform for presentations, practical training and professional exchange while demonstrating the hospital’s multidisciplinary collaboration.
