Hospital Overview

The center was invested and developed by Purui Eye Hospital Group (Shenzhen Stock Exchange GEM: 301239) and established through strategic cooperation with Shanghai University School of Medicine. Approved by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and built to tertiary specialty-hospital standards, it integrates medical care, research and teaching.

The hospital covers approximately 10,000 square meters, operates 100 inpatient beds and is a designated provider under Shanghai medical insurance. It is also an AMO femtosecond-laser myopia partner and is committed to accessible, professional eye care.

Development Milestones

2011

The eye center was founded; Dr. Joergensen and a European ophthalmology delegation visited for academic exchange and surgical observation.

2012

The hospital treated a nine-year-old Yugur girl at imminent risk of blindness and launched a major cataract and retinal-disease assistance program.

2013

Became a designated cataract medical-insurance hospital and an Orbis partner hospital of the Eye & ENT Hospital of Fudan University.

2014

Became a Shanghai medical-insurance provider and a three-star social medical institution.

2015

Established the Purui Eye Care Fund.

2018

Received the Shanghai Charity Star award and additional recognition for public service, workplace excellence, optometry collaboration and hospital quality.

2020

Received China’s non-public medical institution “AAA Credit, Five-Star Capability” designation.

2023

Named an Advanced Collective in the National Private Hospital Management Year.

2024

Clinical Strength

The hospital has more than 200 medical, pharmacy, nursing and technical staff, including over 30 full-time associate-senior or senior professionals, three full-time Level II professors and doctoral supervisors, and more than 20 visiting doctoral or master’s supervisors.

A multidisciplinary team of professors, senior ophthalmologists, physicians with doctoral and master’s training provides full-spectrum refractive correction and individualized care.

The department is a key hospital specialty. It regularly invites leading refractive experts for academic exchange and clinical guidance. Professor Zhang Jianhua, President Zhang Xiaolin and Director Xiao Qirui are certified ZEISS SMILE and STAAR ICL surgeons.
